Local by choice, not by accident
We have called Geelong home since 1981. Over four decades the region has changed enormously, and we have grown and changed with it, from a local office machines dealer into a full technology partner covering print, managed IT, cyber security, cloud and web. Through all of that, one thing has stayed constant: the businesses we serve are our neighbours, and their success is our success.
Joining the Chamber was a natural extension of that view. It is the organisation that brings the region’s business community together, advocates for its interests and gives local operators a way to connect, learn and support one another.
What the Chamber does for the region
The Geelong Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest and most active business organisations in Victoria. It represents businesses of every size across the region, hosts networking and professional development events, recognises excellence through the Geelong Business Excellence Awards, and gives local business a collective voice on the issues that affect it, from infrastructure to workforce to regional investment.
For a growing region like ours, that collective voice matters. Individual businesses rarely get a hearing on their own. Together, through the Chamber, they do.

We try to make local support more than a slogan. We buy from Geelong suppliers where we can. We sponsor and support community organisations across the region. Recognition at the Geelong Business Excellence Awards was a genuine honour, precisely because it came from the community we serve.

Why regional business needs a collective voice
Regional economies face challenges that metropolitan businesses rarely think about: attracting and keeping skilled staff, infrastructure that lags behind growth, and the risk of being overlooked when policy is set in the capital. Individually, no local business can shift those things. The Chamber exists precisely so that hundreds of businesses can speak with one voice on the issues that shape whether Geelong keeps growing as a place to work and invest. Being part of that is not charity. It is enlightened self-interest, and it is how a healthy regional economy sustains itself.
The relationships that come from showing up
Some of our longest customer relationships began as conversations at a Chamber event, and several of our suppliers and referral partners are fellow members. That is the quiet value of membership: a room full of people who run businesses in the same region, face the same conditions and take their reputations seriously. When we recommend a local accountant, printer or tradesperson to a customer, it is usually someone we have come to know through exactly this network. Local businesses backing each other is not a slogan for us. It is how Geelong has always worked, and we are glad to be part of keeping it that way.
